What is Style?
This cartoon-style unit addresses that elusive element known as “style.” Rather than presenting a dry listing of “general principles,” the program shows how style can be defined as the expectation of the reader versus the surprise of the writer, and analyzes several types of surprises: surprises of meaning, surprises of sound, and surprises of sentence structure. The DVD includes a printable teacher guide featuring, activities, exercises, vocabulary words, and more. 22 minutes. Recommended for grades 5-12.
